Emily in Paris: Mykonos Is Where the Story Ends

Netflix has confirmed that "Emily in Paris" will end with its upcoming sixth season, and the final chapter will be filmed in part on the Greek island of Mykonos. The streaming giant made the announcement Thursday, with star Lily Collins delivering the news in a video message to fans.

Collins, who plays Chicago marketing executive Emily Cooper across all six seasons, said the new season will deliver everything fans love about the show and serve as the final chapter of Emily's life adventure. Creator and executive producer Darren Star called making the series with its cast and crew "the journey of a lifetime."

Filming has already begun in Mykonos, with additional scenes set to shoot in Paris and Monaco. The season will pick up from the season 5 cliffhanger, in which Emily's on-again off-again love interest Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, sends her a postcard inviting her to a Greek getaway.

The rest of the returning cast includes Ashley Park, Lucien Laviscount, Samuel Arnold, and Bruno Gouery. Netflix has not announced an official release date for the final season.

The show debuted in 2020 and became one of Netflix's bigger hits, with its most recent season drawing 26.8 million views worldwide within 11 days of release. Star was awarded the Legion of Honor by French President Emmanuel Macron, who credited the show for boosting international attention on France.

The series has also drawn criticism over the years for its idealized, cliche-heavy portrayal of Paris, with reviewers arguing it presents a theme park version of the city.
